What You Will Do

- Build, refine, and optimize SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE statements that power critical applications.

- Author robust stored procedures, functions, and triggers in MySQL 8.x and PostgreSQL 15.x.

- Debug slow queries—use EXPLAIN plans, indexes, and caching to cut execution time in half.

- Validate data integrity through unit tests, checksums, and reconciliation scripts.

- Collaborate with full-stack engineers and BI analysts during sprint planning to translate user stories into efficient schemas.

- Document entity-relationship diagrams, naming conventions, and versioning strategies for future maintainers.

- Support dashboards and ad-hoc reports, ensuring stakeholders trust every figure they see.

- Participate in code reviews; absorb feedback, ask why, then iterate.

- Experiment with emerging tooling—containerized databases, SQL linting, CI/CD pipelines—to automate quality gates.

- Grow your expertise weekly through pair programming sessions and brown-bag deep dives.

What Sets You Up for Success

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or comparable field.

- Solid grounding in relational theory—normal forms, ACID, transactions.

- Hands-on coursework or internship experience writing SQL against at least one major RDBMS.

- Familiarity with Git, Linux CLI, and basic shell scripting.

- Curiosity to dissect execution plans and trace locks until root causes surface.

- Clear written and spoken communication; you translate tech jargon into everyday language.

- Eligibility to work in the United States.

- Bonus points for exposure to cloud databases (Amazon RDS, Google Cloud SQL), Python or Java data access layers, and visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
