Junior Network Support Technician – Entry Level IT
You will provide first-line support for campus, data-center, and cloud networks. Expect daily exposure to enterprise gear while you learn industry-standard tools and best practices. Rotating weekend on-call coverage is shared across the team.
What You’ll Do
- Respond to Level 1/Level 2 tickets via ServiceNow, Jira, and Slack—resolving 80 % of incidents without escalation.
- Troubleshoot wired and Wi-Fi connectivity using ping, traceroute, Wireshark, and NetFlow analyzers.
- Monitor LAN/WAN performance dashboards, act on SNMP/NetFlow alerts, and document root-cause analysis.
- Maintain switch/router configurations (Cisco IOS, Juniper JunOS, ArubaOS) under senior guidance.
- Patch network devices with approved firmware and track versions in Git repositories.
- Update knowledge-base articles, topology diagrams, and change-management records.
- Guide end users through VPN, VoIP, and MFA setups—delivering clear, jargon-free instructions.
- Collaborate with security, cloud, and DevOps teams to enforce zero-trust policies.
- Continuously learn emerging technologies—IPv6, SD-WAN, automation—with company-funded training.
Must-Have Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and subnetting.
- Coursework or internship experience configuring switches, routers, or firewalls.
- Familiarity with Windows, macOS, and Linux command-line troubleshooting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; concise ticket notes are a must.
- Ownership mindset—you pursue a problem until it’s closed.
Nice-to-Have Extras
- CompTIA Network+ or actively pursuing CCNA.
- Experience with Ansible, Python, or PowerShell for task automation.
- Exposure to AWS VPCs, Azure VNets, or Google Cloud networking.
- Knowledge of ITIL practices and SLA reporting.
