- Enforce house style, tone, and voice guidelines—adapting AP, Chicago, or in-house rules as required.

- Structure headlines, subheads, and metadata to boost search visibility and reader engagement.

- Collaborate with writers, designers, and SEO strategists in real time through collaborative editing tools.

- Flag factual discrepancies and perform quick desk checks, ensuring every statement withstands scrutiny.

- Provide constructive, concise feedback that lifts writing quality without diluting authorial voice.

- Log edits in version-control platforms, documenting rationale for future reference.

- Track performance metrics—bounce rate, time on page—to validate editorial improvements.

- Stay current with linguistic trends, accessibility standards, and AI-assisted editing software.

- Contribute to continuous process improvement by suggesting new editorial workflows or automation scripts.

Your Skills & Background

- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or related field.

- 0–2 years of professional experience editing digital content or academic publications. Internships count.

- Native-level command of American English grammar and syntax, with an eye for nuance.

- Familiarity with style manuals, markup symbols, and plain-language best practices.

- Adept with Google Docs, Microsoft Word, and track-changes features; exposure to content management systems a plus.

- Foundational SEO knowledge—keyword placement, readability scoring, and on-page optimization.

- Meticulous attention to detail balanced with speed; you meet ambitious deadlines without sacrificing accuracy.

- Excellent interpersonal communication in virtual settings—Zoom, Slack, or similar.

- Curiosity, adaptability, and a growth mindset that thrives on feedback loops.
