You will polish web articles, marketing copy, and product text for a fast-moving, cross-functional media team. The role is remote-friendly across the United States and designed for early-career professionals eager to transform raw content into clear, engaging, error-free narratives.
Responsibilities
- Review 10-15 pieces of multimedia content daily, spotting grammar, spelling, and punctuation issues before publication.
- Enforce house style, tone, and voice guidelines—adapting AP, Chicago, or in-house rules as required.
- Structure headlines, subheads, and metadata to boost search visibility and reader engagement.
- Collaborate with writers, designers, and SEO strategists in real time through collaborative editing tools.
- Flag factual discrepancies and perform quick desk checks, ensuring every statement withstands scrutiny.
- Provide constructive, concise feedback that lifts writing quality without diluting authorial voice.
- Log edits in version-control platforms, documenting rationale for future reference.
- Track performance metrics—bounce rate, time on page—to validate editorial improvements.
- Stay current with linguistic trends, accessibility standards, and AI-assisted editing software.
- Contribute to continuous process improvement by suggesting new editorial workflows or automation scripts.
Your Skills & Background
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or related field.
- 0–2 years of professional experience editing digital content or academic publications. Internships count.
- Native-level command of American English grammar and syntax, with an eye for nuance.
- Familiarity with style manuals, markup symbols, and plain-language best practices.
- Adept with Google Docs, Microsoft Word, and track-changes features; exposure to content management systems a plus.
- Foundational SEO knowledge—keyword placement, readability scoring, and on-page optimization.
- Meticulous attention to detail balanced with speed; you meet ambitious deadlines without sacrificing accuracy.
