VAPI Voice Agent — AI Appointment Booking System

• Built a real-time conversational voice AI agent using VAPI to autonomously handle inbound appointment booking calls end-to-end. • Developed a FastAPI backend with SQLAlchemy ORM and SQLite to manage appointment scheduling, availability checks, and booking persistence. • Exposed the local backend securely to the VAPI platform using ngrok, with Uvicorn serving the ASGI application for real-time request handling. • Designed function-calling tools connecting the voice agent to backend logic, enabling natural-language date/time parsing and instant booking confirmation.
